The alarm is visible on the mantel of the old fireplace behind the water heater. It's plugged into the outlet with the ground fault interrupt (GFI), as is the sump pump. The pump in the foreground and the accompanying bit of PVC pipe is a red herring; it was replaced by a submersible pump, just visible in the sump near the bottom of the picture.
Stringent testing reveals that I can just hear the alarm while lying in bed, two floors above. A louder alarm, that would wake me up, would probably be an improvement, but this is sufficient. |
