The PIC chip's microcode implements a distinctive pattern to the alarm, and also puts itself to sleep when the snooze button (S1) is pressed.

Note that the Zener (D1) should be 3.9 V instead. 5.1 V was what I had lying around for the original version, but 3.9 V should improve the useful battery life.
